We are pleased to announce our newest Member, Dr Gamaledin Khalafalla Mohamed Ali, from Sudan. He holds a PhD from Nottingham Trent University – UK. He has worked with the National Medical Supplies Fund (NMSF) for more than 8 years in transforming the NMSF into a National Medical Supplies Fund after the National Assembly has approved a new Act for the first time in Sudan history thus improving the availability of medicines from 45% in 2009 to 94% from 2012 to now.
He has more than 15 years in procurement and supply management and during the last 5 years, he has made a lot of improvements with the NMSF including signing an agreement with the UNDP to get more life-saving medicines available and developed a new, more transparent, tender documentation and procedures, ensuring the quality of the medicines. He has also worked with the National Medicines and Poisons Board (NMPB) and ensured its establishment and autonomy by moving relevant staff members from the Federal Ministry of Health, appointing more than 10 standing committees of experts (e.g. technical committees for marketing authorization of medicines, medical devices, cosmetics, legislation committee, appellate committee, and so on). We are very eager to have him on board.
